What's real here
- The brain. All 166,700 neurons of the male fruit fly central nervous system, wired as mapped by HHMI Janelia and Google Research.
- The decisions. Buy is read from the feeding command neuron, sell from the retreat command neuron. No language model chooses anything.
- The separation. Across 27 repeated 500 ms runs, the sell neuron never fired for sugar, and the buy neuron fired for sugar every time.
